Those who did not come to our attention; these who remained backstage so that the St. Mary’s play could go on; the selfless hidden work at competitions, the players who were for ever ready to sit out on the bench so that the best could carry on the game and of course, every St. Marian.
Group Captain Shivkumar Srinivasan – Vishisht Seva Medal Recipient

Group Captain Shivkumar Srinivasan was commissioned in the Indian Air Force as a Transport pilot in the Flying Branch on 11 January 1988. He operationalized IAF’s first ever Airfield Services Unit at UN Mission DR Congo in September 2004 that handled 3600 air moves, 33,000 passengers and 13,000 tonnes of cargo in one year of deputation. AN-32 disaster relief operations in the aftermath of the 2010 mudslide at Leh were spearheaded by him. As Director Operations (Transport), he formulated Operational Air Mobilization Plans for the Indian Army and IAF. For distinguished service of the highest order, the Hon’ble President of India awarded him the Vishisht Seva Medal on Republic Day 2014.
Maneyapanda Muthanna Somaya an ex-student of our school of the 1975 batch. He is a former Indian field hockey player. He was a member of Indian squad in many international games, including the team that won the Gold medal at the 1980 Moscow Summer Olympic Games. Somaya went on to play two more Olympic Games, viz., 1984 Los Angeles Summer Olympic Games, and 1988 Seoul Summer Olympic Games. He was the captain of the 1988 Olympics team.
