On the bright morning of 15th August 2025, the campus of St. Mary’s High School (SSC) was filled with pride, patriotism, and festivity as the school celebrated the 79th Independence Day. The celebrations were held in the School Quadrangle and were graced by the presence of the Chief Guest, Ms. Sandra Fernandes.
The programme began promptly at 7:45 a.m., as students, teachers, and parents assembled with eager anticipation. The arrival of the Chief Guest was marked with a warm welcome by the RSP students, followed by the Flag Hoisting Ceremony, which inspired every heart as the tricolour unfurled majestically against the morning sky. The band playing the National Anthem echoed a deep sense of unity and devotion to the nation.
The day’s events unfolded with a solemn Prayer Service, invoking blessings for our country and its people. This was followed by a spirited Freedom Fighters Parade, where the primary students proudly paid homage to the heroes of our independence struggle.
The cultural programmed was both vibrant and thought-provoking. A medley of patriotic songs stirred emotions, while the skit “Sapno ka Bharat” beautifully portrayed the dreams of young India for a brighter future.
Students expressed their thoughts with eloquence in speeches delivered in English, Hindi, and Marathi, reinforcing the value of freedom in multiple voices and languages.
The address by the Chief Guest, Ms. Sandra Fernandes, was both inspiring and encouraging, appreciating the efforts of the school in nurturing patriotism among its students. A striking drill performance followed, showcasing discipline and coordination, after which the Prize Distribution Ceremony celebrated the hard work and achievements of deserving students for the Poster Competition, Immaculata, Allure, Anvikshanam and Abacus.
The event drew to a close with the Principal’s Address by Rev. Fr. Felix D’Souza, whose words reminded everyone of the responsibility that comes with freedom, urging the students to remain committed to the values of unity, respect, and service to the nation.
