Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola
July 31st is celebrated annually by the church as the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola.
This year the theme chosen for the feast programme was “500 years of the cannonball event.”
This event changed Ignatius from a soldier to a saint, and also an opportunity to transform ourselves.
This program began with the Bible reading, Matthew chapter 10 verse 38 to 40, followed by the prayer of generosity. The students of the middle school gave a brief introduction about the history of the school and St. Ignatius. A video too was presented on the life of Fr. Stan Swamy. The primary section students spoke on how we can imbibe the qualities of St. Ignatius of Loyola in our lives to make it more meaningful.
Fr. Dion Lobo, Fr. Baptist pinto, Fr. Joaquim Tellis and Fr. Evarist Nunes spoke on the cannonball event in their lives or how Ignatius and the Jesuits motivated them to join the Society of Jesus. The programme ended with the Ignatius March presented by the school Council.
A wonderful and well presented program that was appreciated by one and all.
