Collection of Waste Items
The Start Up cycling Team collects Tetra Packs, Milk Pouches , PET bottles, and Empty plastic containers . The students collect the mentioned items from their homes and vicinity thus helping all these waste items to not just accumulate in the landfills but be segregated and used in the right way. Multi Layered plastics (MLP) used for packaging by fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) companies fall under non-recyclable plastic. Students and Teachers at St Mary’s High School SSC collect MLP’s and deposit the same to Safai Bank, an initiative by the Mumbai Sustainability Centre. They divert millions of items of multi-laminated packaging waste from reaching dumping grounds of Indian cities and therefore provide an effortless platform for us at school to take responsibility of our waste.
