The New Academic Year at St. Mary’s – 18th June 2024 – Inaugural Eucharist
On the 18th of June 2024, St. Mary’s ICSE and St. Mary’s SSC marked the beginning of the new academic year with a ceremony imbued with tradition, reflection, and community spirit. This significant event brought together students, faculty, teaching staff, and Catholic boys to seek blessings and celebrate new beginnings.
The entire school community gathered at the Church of St. Ann for the Inaugural Eucharist, celebrated by Fr. Jude Fernandes SJ, the main celebrant. The ceremony aimed to invoke divine blessings and reflect on the theme of “Magis,” a Jesuit principle meaning “to do more.” This theme encourages everyone to strive for excellence in all endeavors, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and dedication.
Fr. Jude delivered a thought-provoking sermon that emphasized the importance of new beginnings filled with opportunities. He also spoke about our role in becoming instruments of peace and harmony.
In addition to the Mass, the school community celebrated Fr. Jude’s birthday. The congregation sang a heartfelt birthday song, adding a personal touch to the ceremony. This gesture highlighted the close-knit nature of the St. Mary’s community, reinforcing the bonds between staff, students, and clergy.
At the end, Fr. Jude thanked the congregation for a good liturgy, expressing his gratitude for their participation and support.
