Adventure, determination, and teamwork came alive as the Cubs of Standards III and IV, along with the Secondary Scouts and teachers of St. Mary’s High School SSC, embarked on an exhilarating hike to the historic Karnala Fort. The day began bright and early as the enthusiastic group assembled at school and departed at 6:30 a.m. in three buses. En route, everyone enjoyed a hearty breakfast of poha and tea, providing the perfect start to an exciting day of adventure. The trek commenced at 10:00 a.m., and the journey to the plateau was both physically demanding and immensely rewarding. The steep uphill climb tested the endurance of every participant, yet the young Cubs and Scouts displayed remarkable resilience, courage, and
determination. Their enthusiasm never waned as they encouraged one another along the trail. The hike was made even more memorable by the unwavering support of our dedicated Scout Masters and former students, now Rovers, who accompanied the group throughout the expedition. Their careful planning, constant motivation, and expert guidance proved invaluable,
particularly during the final ascent to the Karnala Fort. The last stretch, consisting of an almost vertical flight of steep stone steps, seemed daunting at first. However, with encouragement and assistance from the Rovers and Scout Masters, every young Scout successfully reached the summit—a truly inspiring achievement. Nature added its own charm to the experience as refreshing monsoon showers accompanied the trekkers along the way. The rain transformed the forest into a lush green paradise and filled the air with excitement. The students welcomed the showers with laughter and joy, creating memories that will be cherished for years to come. The descent presented another challenge, as the rain had made the rocky terrain slippery. Yet the young trekkers demonstrated admirable caution, confidence, and discipline, making their way downhill steadily and safely under the watchful guidance of their leaders. The hike to Karnala Fort was much more than an outdoor excursion. It was a lesson in perseverance, teamwork, leadership, and self-belief. Every participant returned home with a sense of accomplishment, unforgettable memories, and a deeper appreciation for nature and the true spirit of Scouting. The Cubs and Scouts proudly proved that with determination, encouragement, and teamwork, no summit is too high to conquer.
