On Thursday, 8th October 2026, Principal Rev. Fr. Felix D’Souza, S.J., organised a career guidance session for the students of Std. X to familiarise them with the various career opportunities available after the SSC Board Examination.
Professor Shanti Sankara Krishnan and Professor Imran Sayyed from Vidyalankar Polytechnic, were the resource persons.
Prof. Imran Sayyed explained in detail the various diploma courses in engineering that students can pursue directly after SSC, without having to complete HSC in Science or appear for an entrance examination. He highlighted that students who complete a three-year diploma course can gain direct admission to the second year of an engineering degree programme, thereby saving one academic year. He also emphasised that students could continue to pursue sports of their interests during the diploma course thus maintaining a balance between academics and extracurricular activities.
The information presented was both enlightening and eye-opening for the students, many of whom were pleasantly surprised to discover this alternative pathway to engineering. The session encouraged them to explore the diploma route as one of the option to be considered to capitalise on their SSC Board Examination results.
Prof. Sayyed’s friendly and approachable manner made the session interactive and engaging. He patiently addressed the students’ queries and provided the necessary information to help them better understand the available opportunities.
At the conclusion of the session, feedback forms were distributed to gather the students’ responses and suggestions. The students expressed their appreciation for the informative and well-conducted session, which broadened their understanding of career options and helped them look beyond the conventional academic pathways
