English Elocution Competition 2021
The English elocution competition 2021 was held on the 17th of December 2021.
At St. Mary’s our desire is to inspire students to write their own poems. Last year in the English Elocution Competition many students of standard 6 recited their original poems. This year we had organised a creative writing workshop for the students and it gives us immense pleasure to share that some students of standards 7 and 8 had written their own poems for the English Elocution Competition. Many students had participated from standards 5 to 10. Different themes had been selected per standard and each standard had their own compere. The themes for standard 5 were- Cities of India, Animals and Spirit of a Good Sportsman.
The themes for standard 6 were- First Times, Momentous Occasions and Everyday Moments. The themes for standard 7 were- Online Education: Pros and Cons, My Favourite Superhero and Meeting The Unexpected. The themes for standard 8 were: Nature and , Food Inspirations and Unexpected Happenings. Students of standards 9 and 10 gave speeches on a variety of topics. There were three judges namely, Mr. Christopher Lobo a teacher from St. Xavier’s School, Mrs. Jean Lall, a teacher from Holy Family School and Mrs. Brenda Pereira; an ex-teacher from our school. The judges appreciated that the participants spoke with confidence and were impressed by the memory of the participants. The judges found it difficult to select the winners.
