Guru Poornima and Principal’s day and Manager’s Day.
|| गुरुर्ब्रह्मा ग्रुरुर्विष्णुः गुरुर्देवो महेश्वरः ||
|| गुरुः साक्षात् परं ब्रह्म तस्मै श्री गुरवे नमः॥
On 23rd July 2021, the students and teachers of St Mary’s High School SSC celebrated Guru Purnima. It was really a very grand celebration. Every year, this day is celebrated as the Principal and the Manager’s day too.
The celebration started with ‘Deep Prajwalan’ by Dr. Rev. Father Francis Swamy SJ followed by Rev. Father Jude Fernandes SJ. and then our supervisor Mrs. Annette Henrique.
Master Siddharth Jadhav from std 7th, felicitated Principal and Manager by Aarti, by giving cards, bouquets, and paintings made by our students.
Students from different classes explained to us the importance of ‘Gurus’ in our lives from the Holy Book ‘Gita’. They performed Guru Mantras and Shlokas with the meaning in English. Students know that the teachers should be respected not only on the day of ‘Guru Purnima’ but they should be respected everyday.
Parents also actively participated in this event. A Theme dance of 3 pairs of Mother/Son performed. It was dedicated to our beloved Principal and Manager as thank you for making the school digitally PROactive.
Students from different classes participated in a Skit, ‘ The Story of Guru Dronacharya and Eklavya. The inspiration we got from the story of Ekalavya is, if one is determined in his goal, nothing can stop him from reaching it. God helps those who help themselves. Eklavya believed that if he practiced faithfully in front of his Guru, he would be able to master the art of archery. So every morning he would pray to the idol and practice throughout the day. After years of practicing, he became a skilled archer, even surpassing the best archer in the kingdom – Arjuna.
The program ended with a celebration by cake cutting followed by the Address of our Dynamic Principal Rev. Father Jude Fernandes SJ and Strong Piller of our school, Dr.Rev. Father Francis Swamy.
