The Nature Club of our school organized an adventurous trek to Petmachi, Karjat, which was truly a memorable experience for all participants.
We began our journey early in the morning, leaving school by bus and reaching Petmachi around 9:30 a.m. The trek commenced soon after, as we started ascending through the lush green forest. The beauty of nature surrounded us throughout the climb. On the way, we admired a few waterfalls and were even lucky to spot a bullfrog in its natural habitat, which fascinated the students.
On reaching the base camp, a delicious home-cooked meal was served, which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. After a short break, the students participated in an exciting seed-bombing activity. They had brought dried seeds from their homes, which were wrapped in mud to make seed-bombs. These were then dispersed across various locations. This activity helped the students understand the importance of afforestation, as seed-bombing helps in re-greening barren lands, reducing soil erosion, and supporting biodiversity.
Post this, we went on a nature trail around a pond, where children observed different varieties of trees and learned more about the ecosystem. We then proceeded for a short walk near the base of Kotligarh (Petmachi), exploring the rugged terrain and appreciating the scenic landscape.
As the day came to a close, we began our descent. The trek concluded with the distribution of certificates and badges to all the participants, marking the successful completion of the event.
The entire trek was efficiently managed by The Tern Travelers. We were ably guided and supervised by five teachers: Mr. Anthony Colaco, Mrs. Mehjabeen Bagasrawala, Mrs. Sheela Abraham, Ms. NAUREEN Kutty, and Ms. Rochelle Dsa.
It was an enriching experience for all the students, combining adventure with learning and creating lasting memories with nature.
